Santini

We met a old friend for dinner at this newly setup Santini in JayaOne, Section 13. It took aan entirely new look from the old Santini, which sported mainly green and gold/yellow. Now sporting the modern red and white concept, the new place looked chic. If you are one that goes for ambience and setting, you might want to check out this place.
However, our expectation of its food was not well met, and we could not help but feeling disappointed, not so much of the price that we had to pay, but the food quality that has deteriorated since I have dined at Santini KLCC couple of years back, hence the quality severely did not commensurate with the prices the dishes were set at.

See-through glass panel at the end of the long dining section, that overlook the JayaOne area.

Modern Red & White concept.

Section for private dining / functions sealed off by the full ceiling-to-floor red glass.

The smoking section is an open section with ceiling and wall of all white wood panels with comfy low sofas.

Facing the sofas was the bar with quite comfy high chairs.

The menu is nothing extravagant, practical, simple and easy to browse.

Toasted baguette with olive oil/black vinegar dip.

Wild mushroom soup with fresh cream @RM14.90. This was not too exceptionally good. Can pass but not for that price.

Meatballs with spicy tomato and grilled ciabatta from the Cold & Hot Appetisers selections @ RM10.90. Rather mediocre for a appetiser at such pricing.

Crespelle (Pancake with chicken and mushrooms) @ RM24.90. This was nothing like the picture shown in the menu and I almost could not recognise it when it served. Not exactly tasty and good, especially for the price paid.

Thin crusted Margherita Pizza (Tomatoes and mozzarella served with oregano and basil) @ RM11.90 was an ordinary pizza.

Oven-baked lamb served with capponata and balsamic lamb juice @ RM55.90 was not as good as some of the other rack of lamb we had before. Perhaps the chef should try out the 6 to10 Grill in Section 17, PJ to know that even that, which was priced at 16++ could outbeat this anytime.

Roasted cod fish served with portobello mushrooms, asparagus (originally with gratin potatoes) and garlic @ RM48.90 was probably the only thing that was up to our expectation.
