CoChine

The first restaurant on the Asian Heritage Row on Jalan Doraisamy, KL, CoChine serves Indochinese cuisine. While one side of the place is a bar called Savannah, Cochine takes on the other half, and the open dining at the front. Exuding a cosy, carefree ambience, it was a breezy night when Adrian and I had our dinner.

Appetising young papaya salad with cherry tomatoes, sliced unions, lightly pounded long beans, chilie and garlic in lime juice and served with roasted peanuts with a choice of different level of spiciness - light, hot and very hot for RM22, and was crunchy and mouthwatering!

Priced at RM55, the Mekong Platter is one of the items on the degustation menu and was well worth the amount. Comprising of Vietnamese fresh rice paper prawn rolls, fried prawn gruelle with sugarcane, fried strips of chicken with sesame, fried minced beef and shredded turnip rolls, and fried sliced fish come with thick sweet chillie and light, thin chillie with grinded peanuts dips, served in a basket. The platter was of a good serving portion for two.

Vietnamese beef noodles was quite good. Thin flat rice noodles with beef balls and sliced beef in soup served with fresh bean sprouts, basil and lettuce. Light with sweetness of the nicely cooked sliced beef and it cost RM14, which was a reasonable amount.
